Bruce Winfrey grew up in the west Texas town of San Angelo and graduated from Texas A & M University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science. After moving to Houston, Bruce began his career as a field superintendent and quickly worked his way up to project, division, and city manager positions for some of Houston's best known, large-volume homebuilders and custom homebuilding and remodeling companies. In those roles, he learned from true mentors the importance of integrity and uncompromised values while supervising the construction of over 400 homes.

In addition to the ongoing practical knowledge a builder has to constantly keep abreast of, Bruce has continued his professional education through the National Association of Home Builders and has attained the Graduate Master Builder and Certified Green Professional designations through course work and testing. He has also become a Realtor® within the last year to gain a further edge in acquiring property for speculative projects and design-build projects for clients.

In 1998, Bruce and a business partner started Millennium Homes which built over 300 custom homes and townhomes in the Houston inner loop area. In 2007, he founded his own company, Winfrey Design Build, with a goal of building homes and projects that maximize the client's investment while making the creative design and build process an enjoyable one for everyone involved.

Bruce has lived in four homes that he has built for himself, including his current house, and he is constantly thinking about how modern families live and what can be done in the design and construction process to improve the quality of his homeowner's lives. Since he began, Bruce has had the vision of creating designs that are exciting and innovative while keeping value, practicality, and efficiency foremost in mind.
